Getting Started
This knowledge base includes guidance on all aspects of The Data Refinery. Guidance covers the various features and modules with our platform. The ability to utilise these features depends on your access level.
The Data Refinery also has interactive guidance (Tour Guide) that can provide granular screen specific guidance to compliment the content in this knowledge base.
User Interface
The Data Refinery UI can be found here. This is where you'll leverage The Data Refinery's features. You can seamlessly connect your data sources, analyze your data, segment your audience, and achieve much more.
Data Flow
Data arrives into your Data Refinery from a number of sources, once the data has arrived it is stored in it original state. Further processing is then undertaken to refine sourced data to standardise it into a number of data entities that enable Advanced Analytics
and a number of additional features within the Data Refinery.
The data flow can be described in 3 stages:
- Data sources: inbound connections that allow data to flow from your source systems
- Data Augmentation: data that flows into the Data Refinery from a number of UK open data providers
- Advanced Analytics: data that is further enriched and enhanced from your connected data sources
Data Sources
Data sources are data connections that you have added and configured within the Data Refinery. Once a data source is connected, data will arrive into the Data Refinery at the configured interval (1 hour, 4 hours, 12 hours, 24 hours).
Open Data
Open data is freely available data that is automatically ingested into your Data Refinery. This data is typically joined to the data that is processed to enable Advanced Analytics
.
